Colour Focus Challenge: Day 1

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web"  - Pablo Picasso.
Welcome to day 1 of our first challenge of 2016, our colour focus challenge will focus on creating mixed media pieces using limited colour palettes.
For the next 7 days, we will be focusing on the colours black, white and blue. We want to challenge ourselves to work within restricted boundaries, and in a sense step outside our comfort zones. One might think that working with certain guidelines can stifle creativity however, we believe that sometimes it is necessary to look at things from a different standpoint, try a new approach. We usually work with a multitude of colours, with no restriction, thats the norm for us anyway. So we are stepping outside the norm and doing something different for the next month.

This is our first piece, we used Pebeo acrylic paint and torn magazine sheets. We then photographed it using an iPad air 2 and added digital effects using Pixlr.

Into the blue....

What are you doing to step outside your comfort zone in 2016?
